Elf`s Castle

Hreinn Fridfinnsson's sculpture Elf's Castle reflects a web of references from the worlds and myth, music, and the art of geometry. He makes visible the story of the myth or the way invisible geometry structures the universe.

The sculpture creates a scene in which Plato's idea of the tetrahedron (four triangles of equal size) symbolising the harmonies of the universe meets the Nordic myths of trolls that turn into stones and of elves who are always sympathetic to humans. This situation is created through references contained in the materials of the sculpture, in their shapes, and in the internal relationships between these elements.

The sculpture speaks about beauty, which is also an idea, a symbol or a thought, before it takes shape in the artist's vision, being given its material translation in the intimations contained in the work.
