THE ARTIST, BÅRD BREIVIK, TO FREMOVER, 25 OCT 1991:

"I am thrilled at the possibilities. In Narvik, I can fulfil a boyhood dream of following the water, from the sea to its mountain spring. I have found excellent raw materials in the district, but I won't yet reveal where I've made my discoveries. [...]To me, the river is the pillar and the life-blood of the community. The water is clean and inviting. The way I see it, the entire valley could be a sculpture, but it's too soon to say what I am going to do. There will definitely be a combination of natural rock and running water. The question is if I should just focus on one location, or if I should choose several sites along the waterway.I wish the entire town would embrace and realize the potential of Elvedalen in Taraldsvik. The neighbourhood association is very involved, and has already done a great job on the river park down at the bottom. With the level of dedication shown by the people I have talked to this last week, I just hope the municipality will get behind a comprehensive project for the area."
