Varde (Cairn) MEMO

“Concept: Pavillion: “Cairn”. Must be possible to sit in it —showcase the view: nature. Not too large and prominent; “transparent”—humility in facing the spectacular natural landscape.

Materials: 3350–3500 bricks. Foundation: 7 pillars down to solid ground.

Technique: Masonry. Labour: 17–18 working days, including preparations and finishing.

Location: Exit, rest stop facing Bjærangsfjorden. View towards Svartisen Glacier.”

“The Municipality of Meløy and Nordland County Council have the pleasure of inviting you to an enjoyable Saturday afternoon, 19 September at 2:00, at Breivikshøgda on Bjærangsfjorden, in connection with the unveiling of Per Kirkeby's sculpture “Varde”.

We are celebrating the fourth sculpture sculpture to be revealed since Queen Sonja officially opened the project at Vega on 19 August.

After the unveiling, there will be musical entertainment by Halsa Choir, and light refreshments will be offered.”
