Jan Håfström is both a painter and a sculpture. Håfström has played a central role in the Swedish contemporary art scene since the 1960s. He is interested in art's being, and has both written and talked about it in discussions regarding Swedish contemporary art. Håfström has had exhibitions in the Nordic countries, Germany and France. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale twice (in 1980 and 1990). He has also had solo exhibitions in New York. The Henie-Onstad Art Centre at Høvikodden has a Håfström sculpture in the park surrounding the museum.
